Areca Palm
This super famous Areca palm is a real eye-catcher. So it’s time to take good care of your new gold palm.
The Areca likes light, but prefers not to be in full sun. The perfect temperature for the gold palm is between 18 and 24 °C.
The gold palm likes a sip of water regularly, so that the soil remains moist. However, no water should remain in the pot! This can cause root rot.
The Areca also likes the moist leaves by misting. This is not necessary, but certainly ensures a beautiful leaf and prevents contamination by insects!

Every plant loves a little extra care! It is best for the Areca Palm to be repotted every year. It is best to do this in the spring, because then the growth period of the Areca also starts and the plant is strong enough to recover from the move. It is very important that the new pot is at least 20% larger than the old one and that it is filled with fresh potting soil. Do this every two years at the latest
Pruning is not necessary for the Areca Palm. The only thing that is good to do is sometimes trim the leaves. For example when the Areca has been in the sun and the leaves are a little burned. When you want to trim the leaf it’s important to use a pruner and cut the leaf 2cm above the stem.
Is your Areca losing leaves? This is probably the result of too much water. You can fix this by not giving water until the soil is dry (not bone dry).
Does your Areca have brown leaves? This is probably the result of draft and coldness. You can fix this by putting the Areca at a warmer spot and misting the leaves.
Does your Areca have yellow leaves? This is probably the result of too much light. You can fix this by putting the plant in a different place with more shadow.
