Monstera Deliciosa

This exotic and cool Monstera Deliciosa is a real eye-catcher. So it’s time to take good care of your new Swiss cheese plant.

Place the Monstera in a bright place, but try to avoid direct sunlight. Avoid draft, as this houseplant does not like it. Rotate the Monstera regularly so that the houseplant does not grow to one side. The perfect temperature for this plant is between 18 and 22 °C.

The Monstera Deliciosa likes to have a sip of water regularly and is really a moist soil lover. Every week a glass of water is enough.

Give the Swiss cheese plant a little plant nutrition twice a month. In winter it’s better to give plant nutrition once every two months.

More information

Every plant loves a little extra care! Repotting the Monstera will provide enough space for the roots. It is only time to repot if the pot is really getting too small, you can tell by the stem of the plant. You can repot the Monstera from April until September, but the best period is in the spring, when the growing period starts and the Monstera will have more energy to recover from the move.

If you don’t trim the Monstera and don’t have a moss stick, there is a big change the leaves will get to heavy and eventually break. So, it’s important to cut off those leaves so the Monstera can fully grow and keep being beautiful. Do this where the new stem starts and not at the very bottom. And no worries, there will come a new, big leave!

Does your Monstera have brown leaves? This is probably result of too little water. You can fix this by giving the monstera more water.

Does your Monstera have yellow leaves? This is probably the result of too much water causing root rot. You can try to fix this by not giving water until the soil is completely dry and then give water again. Otherwise, you can try to repot the Monstera, but be careful with the roots.

Does your Monstera have brown edges? This is probably the result of too much sunlight or too dry air. You can fix this by putting the Monstera on a different spot in less light and mist the leaves with water regularly.
